Understand the format.
Очная means full-time; очно-заочная means combined full-time and part-time study; заочная means extramural study, with substantial independent work. Availability varies by programme. Part-time or extramural does not automatically mean fully online. Confirm attendance requirements and suitability for your intended stay.
Tuition is one part of the budget.
- Accommodation, any deposit, utilities and everyday food costs.
- Transport, phone access and study materials.
- Travel, insurance and applicable visa or arrival-related costs.
- Translations, document authentication and recognition where required.
- Russian-language preparation and any other separately priced support.
Request a written breakdown of what is included before making a payment. Check the official payment instructions, accepted payment route, instalments and refund terms. Do not assume that an overseas transfer or a particular payment card will work.
What does “budget-funded” mean?
A Russian бюджетное место is a state-funded study place. Eligibility for foreign applicants depends on the applicable legal, treaty or quota grounds and supporting documents. It is not automatically a scholarship covering living costs. Ask about your eligibility and the current admission process; include only confirmed funding in your plan.
Programme details and accreditation status should also be checked individually in the official education disclosures (in Russian).
